As a child I loved the beach, as a teen, when skipping school, the beach was where I headed. I have always been a beach bum. There is just something about the sights, smells, sounds, and overall feeling of sitting on warm sand that is so relaxing to me. This is where I meditate, collect beach glass, driftwood, shells and spend time.

Being a beach bum isn’t a life without work, it is a state of being. Shell chimes, Sun Chimes Sea coral bowls bring a bit of the beach bum home.

I have been a beach bum from coast to coast. Growing up a Navy dependant we lived close to all types of beaches. From Maine to California, Washington to Florida and Island beaches of Hawaii, and the Caribbean.

Finding treasures on the beach isn’t as easy today as it was even 20 years ago. I’m a goosebump beach bum in Washington, haunting the beaches for the perfect piece of drift wood. Florida finds me getting the most imperfect shells (my favorite kind) and Maine has the best rocks! My luggage is filled with unusual items that I use in my work.
When in college, I developed a love for clay. In Arizona I had a Pottery Studio, good for clay but alas no beaches in Arizona. Then I took a glass class! I loved working with glass, stained glass work wasn’t for me, but cutting a sheet of glass into pieces, putting them together, firing the pieces in a kiln, every time I open the kiln after a fire it’s like Christmas!

My love of glass and the beach is the base of my work. It makes me feel good and I hope it unlocks the beach bum in you!
